Intercounty Electric Cooperative Association, which is headquartered at Licking and serves about 32,000 meters in south-central Missouri, will hold its annual meeting Friday, June 27.
Members will gather at the Licking City Park on Maple Street for registration that runs from 8 to 11 a.m. A business meeting is at 9 a.m. A brown bag lunch will be served at 11 a.m. Voting is open until 11:30 a.m. Directors will be elected and there are two proposed bylaw changes.
The cooperative has operated for 89 years.
Persons attending should bring the registration portion — back cover — of the Rural Missouri magazine to pick up a gift and be entered into electric credit drawings.
Here is a rundown of activities:
Heath Fair — Texas County Memorial Hospital will provide a multi-chem health profile for $30. Other booths will provide health-related information.
Breakfast — A breakfast will be available at the refreshment building. It is sponsored by the Licking Fire Department. It helps those who fasted before their health tests.
Craft Fair — A large craft and business fair will be on site.
Kids Tent — Register for bicycle drawings. A coloring contest is held for children 8 and under to win a Buddy Bear. Kids also can have their pictures taken in a lineman’s bucket.
Electric Credit Drawings — Drawings will occur throughout the day. Members voting by mail or at the offices and members registering in person will be entered. Members do not have to be present.
Entertainment for this year’s event is Lone Pine Band, comprised of musicians from Texas and Phelps counties.
A committee in April selected three nominees to the board of directors: Regina Zervos, north district; Matthew A. Duncan, central district; and Charles M. “Chuck” Manier, south district. Two bylaw issues also are on the ballot: Allowing for secure, online voting as a method for members to cast votes at the annual meeting and allowing the district to also publish its unclaimed capital credits online in addition to a printed version and allowing the cooperative Charitable and Educational Foundation to use unclaimed funds to support members and communities.
