Leona Edna (Carlson) Weisbrod, 92, of Houston, Missouri, passed away on June 16, 2025, at her home. She was born on March 3, 1933, to John Edward and Dora Thelma (Statler) Carlson of Flagler, Colorado, at home.
Leona was a Flagler High School graduate from the class of 1952. She moved to Denver and worked at Russell Stover Candy Factory. While attending church at South Denver Church of God, she met Phillip Weisbrod, whom she married on Aug. 30, 1958. They lived in various places in Colorado until they moved to Solo, Missouri in 1969. In 2017 they moved to Houston. She attended Simmons Baptist Church for 55 years where she always helped in any way and loved Jesus Christ, her Savior.
Leona was a devoted wife, loving mother, mother-in-law, Nana, aunt and friend to many. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Leona is preceded in death by her parents; four siblings, Clarence, Earney, Leonard and Clifford; sister-in-law, Barbara; brother-in-law, Ed; and in-laws, Orvie and Vivian Weisbrod.
She is survived by her loving and caring husband of 67 years, Phillip, of the home; son, John Weisbrod and grandchildren, Joshua and Abigail of Jerico Springs, Missouri; daughter, Ruth McShane and husband Mike, and grandchildren, Nathan, Evan and Jason, of Battlefield, Missouri; sister-in-law, Sandy Carlson of Pocatello, Idaho; sister-in-law, Lavonne Head of Hardy, Arkansas; in-laws Ben and Ebbie of West Plains, Missouri; in-laws, Eddie and Rita of Peace Valley, Missouri; and many nephews, nieces, friends and neighbors.Â
Graveside services and burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday June 20, 2025, at Mackey Cemetery in Pomona, Missouri with George Sholtz officiating. Pallbearers are John Weisbrod, Mike McShane, George Sholtz III, Orvie Weisbrod, Steven Weisbrod and Charlie Venn.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gideons International or Simmons Baptist Church, Cabool, MO Mission Fund.
