COLOR OUR WORLD summer reading registration is complete and kids have their instruction sheet and events calendars. Summer Reading runs until July 24 and the events are held each Thursday at all branches. Check out our website for what is happening at your local branch. Thank you so much to all the parents and kids that are participating. My biggest thank you to the donors who help make summer reading possible.
Some new books that can be found in Houston are: “Hidden Nature” by Nora Roberts, “Death Mask” by Iris Johansen, “With a Vengeance” by Riley Sager and “Stolen Life of Colette Marceau” by Kristin Harmel.
And some new books in Cabool are: “Atmosphere A Love Story” by taylor Jenkins Reid and “Presidents Shadow” by James Patterson.
The next adult book club meets at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 12 at the Houston branch. The following meeting is Saturday, Aug. 9. All are welcome and come prepared to discuss a recent book you have read.
Friends of the Library needs Friends! Ask how you can become a part of your local Texas County Library branch’s Friends group. Friends of the Library strengthens libraries’ presence in communities and help them thrive through fundraising, volunteering, advocating and so much more. The next meetings are as follows: 2:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8 in Houston; 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 16 in Licking; 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19 in Cabool; and 1:30 p.m. Thursday, July 3 in Summersville.

The Houston Library is the main branch of the Texas County Library and is located at 117 W. Walnut St. Business hours are 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday. Library staff is Darnella Robbins, Del Hicks and Tiffany Davy.
