A 63-year-old Salem woman drowned Sunday afternoon on the Current River, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.
The accident occurred when water current pushed a kayak into a downed tree, causing it to overturn and the woman was swept under the tree.
The body was recovered by other floaters, and she was pronounced deceased by Shannon County Coroner Allen Ford. Next of kin has been notified following the accident below Cave Spring.
