The Current River Callers chapter of Missouri National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) in cooperation with Missouri Department of Conservation hosted nine teens, ages 13 to 17, in its Extreme Jakes event at the Rover Gun Club in Rover, Missouri on June 14.

Participants received safety instruction before they began shooting trap, skeet, clay “rabbit” and 22 targets. Members and volunteers were present to offer instruction and tips to improve the participants’ skills.

Each teen received a booklet, “Hunting Wild Turkeys in Missouri,” from the MDC, a Jakes membership and entry into the day’s prize drawings. The winner of the grand prize, a 12-gauge shotgun, was Lily York. Easton Skaggs and Landon McAdams won the second and third place prizes of a turkey hunting chair/turkey call combo and a hunting backpack/turkey call combo. All other participants received their choice of a door prize. Lunch was served.

The Current River Callers thanked the MDC, Lester Jett of the Rover Gun Club, volunteers and parents who brought their teens to the event.
