There is a 40-60% chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms across the area Monday after heavy rain struck Sunday in southern Texas County, the National Weather Service said.

There is a marginal (1 of 5) risk some of these storms may become severe with damaging wind gusts up to 50-70 mph as the main hazard, though heavy rain and flooding is also a concern, it said.
