A U.S. 63 accident Monday afternoon claimed a Mountain Grove woman north of Cabool.
Tpr. Nathan Poynter said a northbound 2020 Nissan Altima driven by an 82-year-old Mountain Grove resident crossed the center of the highway and struck a southbound 2019 Ford Edge operated by a 49-year-old Houston woman at about 3:35 p.m.
The driver of the Altima, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken by ambulance to Cox South in Springfield where she was pronounced deceased at 6:15 p.m. Next of kin was notified.
The Houston driver and a passenger, a 48-year-old man, were taken by ambulance to Texas County Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. Both were wearing seat belts.
Both vehicles were totaled in the accident about one mile north of Cabool.
Several troopers, along with the Cabool Fire Department, assisted. The patrol does not release the names of those involved in accidents.
