Members of the Texas County Commission handled several matters during meetings July 23 and 24.
Members:
- Reviewed and approved to pay Great Rivers Association for Flap-083 #9 in the amount of $9,985.54.
- Approved the county tax levy of 0.0581 for 2025.
- Reviewed bids for the sidewalk and asphalt at the justice center. Andrews Concrete and Contracting was awarded the bid.
- Held the 2025 Board of Equalization meeting.
- Discussed putting a Homestead Tax Credit on an election ballot. The credit is part of Senate Bill 3, according to county officials. An expiring half-cent sales tax for capital improvements was also discussed.
- Reviewed and acknowledged that Paige Leeder has been promoted to assistant jail administrator effective July 23.
- Reviewed and acknowledged that Andrew Parrish has transferred from the jail to deputy sheriff effective July 23.
- Discussed bids received for concrete work and replacing a cracked window with maintenance personnel.
In other business, commissioners heard from:
- David Scantlin on township roads and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) updates.
- Marjorie Stroup concerning a flagpole for the administrative building.
- George Sholtz with questions about the coroner.
