The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:
- On July 15, a deputy was serving as court security for the Texas County associate circuit court when a female testified that she had previously made false domestic assault accusations against a man. She now faces charges of perjury (a class D felony) and filing a false statement (misdemeanor).Â
- On July 15, a deputy was advised of a wanted individual in the lobby of the Texas County Justice Center. April A. Meeks, 46, of Lee’s Summit, was arrested on a warrant for traffic offenses and transported to the Texas County Jail.Â
- On July 15, a deputy was dispatched to a High Point Drive residence in Raymondville for a report of animal theft and neglect. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with a 35-year-old female who stated that a neighbor had trespassed her deceased grandfather’s property, stole a dog and euthanized a cat. A witness stated that there have been similar issues with the 77-year-old suspect and neighborhood animals. They also stated that these particular animals appeared to be neglected. The suspect stated that she was feeding the dog and had the cat euthanized because they appeared to be in poor condition. She admitted to trespassing. Neither party wished to pursue charges.
