Fatal crash

One person was killed Thursday afternoon in an accident in Troop G, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

Cpl. Justin Dedmon said a southbound 2000 Toyota Tundra driven by an 83-year-old Graff woman crossed eastbound U.S. 60 and into the path of an eastbound 2024 Chevrolet Silverado operated by a 33-year-old Norwood woman. The accident occurred about four miles east of Norwood.

A passenger in the Tundra who was not wearing a seat belt — an 87-year-old Graff man — was pronounced deceased at the scene by Dr. James Orlando of Mercy Hospital.

The driver of the Silverado was flown with serious injuries to Cox South in Springfield. The driver of the Tundra was flown with serious injuries to Mercy Hospital in Springfield. Both were wearing seat belts.

It was the 17th fatality in Troop G compared to 13 at the same time a year ago. The patrol doesn’t release the names of persons involved in accidents, citing a risk of the information being used in scams.
