A drone led to finding the woman and dog.

First responders from several agencies successfully located a woman and her dog on Sunday night in northwest Texas County.

Roby Fire Chief Jeff Reed said the woman’s husband became alarmed when she failed to appear at her pickup point on a Roubidoux floating trip.

He called for help after about three hours. First responders from the Plato Fire Department, Roby Fire Department and Texas County Sheriff’s Department helped in the effort. The Missouri State Highway Patrol also had a car in the area.

The Houston Police Department deployed its drone after dark and within four to five minutes, the woman and her dog were located. Neither required medical treatment.

It was a busy few days for the Roby Fire Department. It also helped with a patient on the Slabtown trail who became overheated. That person was flown from the area for medical care, Reed said.
