Texas County is included in a Missouri Department of Transportation list that documents unfunded needs. The tab in the county is listed at about $48 million.

MoDOT has been working with statewide regional planning partners to update the department’s High-Priority Unfunded Needs document, which will be available this summer.

In Texas County, three projects are listed:

  • Tier 1 — Intersection improvements at U.S. 63 and Oak Hill Drive in Houston, $517,000.
  • Tier 2 — Extra U.S. 63 traffic lanes from Route PP to U.S. 60 at Cabool, $15.1 million.
  • Tier 3 — Extra U.S. 63 traffic lanes from on Cloverdale Road south of Houston to Route PP, $32.1 million.

The draft document identifies $1.1 billion in annual unfunded needs and helps guide the development of unfunded projects into funded projects as state and federal transportation funds become available. The draft document will be presented at public meetings around the state in August. These meetings will also include outreach and public engagement on the updates to MoDOT’s Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) and State Freight and Rail Plan (SFRP).

The meeting for this region is 4-6 p.m. Aug. 28 at Ozark Foothills Regional Planning Commission in Poplar Bluff.
