Ozark Action Inc. announced that its Cabool location will convert to Early Head Start to serve the needs of families better.

It hopes to begin service in November.

It is a free, year-round program for pregnant women, infants and toddlers up to age 3. It’s designed to support a child’s learning, health and development during the most important early years.

Several services are provided: Free diapers and formula, support for breastfeeding with private spaces for nursing moms, priority points for teen moms; and nurturing, safe and engaging classrooms for young learners.

Teachers are trained on early learning and family support.

Officials said its license will serve younger children, and spaces are receiving a refresh.

Similar conversions are underway at Ava, Bakersfield and West Plains.
