The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:
- A 63-year-old Cabool man reported on July 26 that $8,500 had been stolen from a Wells Fargo credit card account of his.
The man provided an investigating officer a phone number the alleged suspect had called from and subsequently gained access to his Apple digital wallet. The man said the suspect gained access to his camera, deleted his Apple ID, locked him out of his phone and moved the funds to a Chime account.
The man said he reported the incident to Wells Fargo and found out the suspect had attempted to withdraw a cash advance from a debit card.
The suspect has not yet been identified.
- A deputy was dispatched July 1 regarding a report of theft at a Highway B residence at Raymondville.
The officer made contact with a 37-year-old man there who said he was at his trailer and noticed property missing from the inside and outside. He also said he shuts the power off when he’s not there, but observed it was on.
The man said a neighbor man then came outside with an aggressive dog, and he picked up a pipe to keep the dog away. The man said the neighbor then went into his residence and returned with a knife and was yelling “gang talk.”
During a subsequent altercation, the dog allegedly bit the man on his leg.
The suspect told the deputy he was inside his residence and his power was shut off twice. He also said he had retrieved the knife to protect himself.
Both men were trespassed from each other’s properties.
- On July 28, an anonymous caller reported that a man with several active warrants was living at a location on Nevill Road at Mountain Grove. A computer check revealed the man had three drug-related warrants including two in Howell County and one in Texas County.
Three deputies traveled to the suspect’s alleged residence, and contact was made with a man who claimed the suspect wasn’t there. After permission to search was received, the suspect was found hiding behind boxes in a loft area.
Gregory W. Riley, 48, of Nevill Road in Mountain Grove, was arrested and taken to the Texas County Jail.
