The Texas County Sheriff's Department was called to handle a variety of investigations.

The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

  • On Aug. 10, a 27-year-old woman reported a burglary at her residence at Raymondville.

The woman told a deputy that she had been incarcerated for the past seven months, and when she returned home, she noticed several things were missing, including clothing, shoes and personal items. The woman named several people who had been in the house while she was gone.

Investigation is ongoing.

  • At about 1:35 a.m. June 29, a deputy responded to a report of an assault that had taken place at the Midway Bar on U.S. 60 in Mountain Grove.

The victim – a 22-year-old Cabool woman – was contacted at the corner of Second and Spruce streets in Houston.

The woman, who was holding a cold cloth to her left cheek, told the officer a 59-year-old Mountain Grove woman had assaulted her. The officer also spoke with three people who were with the woman and reported witnessing the incident.

Investigation is ongoing.

  • On July 7, a deputy was dispatched regarding a report of theft at a McKinney Road residence in Houston.

The officer made contact with a 58-year-old woman there who said a chainsaw, jack stand, air nailer and an antique well dipper had been stolen from a shed on her property. While the deputy examined the scene, the woman found the well dipper.

The woman told the officer a neighbor man might be the suspect because she has had issues with him in the past. Investigation is ongoing.

  • Frankie L. Gayer, 56, of West Route 17 in Houston, was arrested Aug. 5 for having an active Texas County warrant for two counts of failure to register as a sex offender (a class E felony).

A deputy who had been advised of the warrant made the arrest at Gayer’s place of employment and took him to jail. Cash-only bond in the case is set at $2,000.

  • On Aug. 2, a 66-year-old Plato man reported that a pony valued at $2,500 had been stolen from his Route 17 property.

A 51-year-old West Plains man is a suspect. Investigation is ongoing.
