A Raymondville man was sentenced to life in prison Monday after conviction on a child abuse charge by a Pulaski County jury.
James W. Crider, who was born in 1948, was charged with first-degree sodomy or attempted sodomy with a victim less than 12 years old.
Crider was found guilty in May and had his bond revoked that day. The case was heard in Waynesville on a change of venue from Texas County.
On Tuesday, Crider filed an appeal with the Missouri Court of Appeals. He seeks the services of the Missouri State Public Defender’s Office to fight the conviction. A Clayton attorney previously represented him.
The Texas County Sheriff’s Department initiated an investigation after a report in March 2023.

Thank you Texas County Sheriff’s Department for a job well done
