Deputy’s report: Man allegedly naked at Houston business

The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

• On Aug. 1, a deputy responded to a report of a naked man at Wash Me Laundry on C.W. Harry Drive in Houston.

The man, a 55-year-old Licking resident, was a suspect in a Cabool Police Department theft case, and items allegedly stolen from a Cabool residence the previous night were found in his white 1994 Chevrolet pickup. He was arrested, and while the officer conducted an inventory of his vehicle, a bag of methamphetamine was found.

The man was taken to the Texas County Jail, his truck was towed and a probable cause statement was sent to the county prosecutor seeking a drug possession charge.

• On Aug. 24, a 47-year-old Cabool woman reported that her 7-month-old Great Pyrenees puppy was missing from her Highway H property.

The woman named a 57-year-old Elk Creek woman as a possible suspect. Investigation is ongoing.

• On Aug. 27, a 66-year-old woman reported that about 25 head of cattle had been stolen from her Five Oaks Road property at Mountain Grove.

The woman stated she has an order of protection against her 39-year-old son, and a judge had given him a set time to retrieve belongings from his residence on the property. The woman said that by the time deputies arrived, the son had already taken the cattle away. She said she suspected that he and a friend had stolen the cattle during the night.

Investigation is ongoing.

• On Aug. 17, a deputy was dispatched to Edna Drive at Summersville to attempt to locate a vehicle that had been reported stolen.

Upon arrival, the officer observed the vehicle – a 2016 Chevrolet Trax – off the road near the river. The vehicle reportedly had no wheels or tires, the hood was propped open and both windows on the passenger’s side were rolled down.

The officer reported not observing any damage to the vehicle’s exterior, but the interior had been gutted and the keys were in the ignition.

Contact was made with the vehicle’s owner, a Winona woman, and a towing company, but the car remained where it was due to its condition and location and the roadway’s condition.

On. Aug. 20, the woman contacted the TCSD to indicate she had found a towing company that could recover the vehicle.
