AMOS LEACH Credit: TEXAS COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT

A man from Licking is charged on numerous counts following a dispute that climaxed Monday, Sept. 15, near Highway H and U.S. 63 south of Houston, authorities said.

Amos Leach, 27, is charged with first-degree property damage, a class E felony; leaving the scene of an accident with property damage exceeding $1,000, a class E felony; driving while revoked/suspended, misdemeanor; making a false report, a misdemeanor; and not having insurance, a misdemeanor.

Leach originally told the Texas County Sheriff’s Department he was the victim of an incident that left vehicle damage. Further investigation and a witness, an off-duty law enforcement officer, cast doubt on his claims, according to a law enforcement report.

The conflict between Leach and the victim apparently was sparked by Amos making an obscene gesture earlier at the victim’s wife at Walmart. Words were also exchanged at Cabool’s Casey’s. The incident at the intersection caused $1,512 damage to the victim’s vehicle.

Bond is set at $4,500 cash only. He is in the Texas County Jail.
