Personnel from the Houston Fire Department were dispatched at 12:56 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 23) for a tractor-trailer overturned down an embankment on U.S. 63, across from the Texas County Health Department.Â
HFD Chief Robbie Smith said the big rig left the roadway and traveled down the embankment, striking several trees before coming to a rest.
The driver was transported by ambulance to Texas County Memorial Hospital.

Apparatus and personnel remained on scene conducting traffic control for close to four hours, closing down U.S. 63 as well, while Jays Towing retrieved the wreckage and moved it across the highway into an open level parking lot. Traffic then resumed to normal flow.
Officers with the Houston Police Department, Texas County Sheriff’s Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol assisted at the scene.
The crash is being investigated by the Houston Police Department.
