Two employees received a pay raise and a clerk was promoted from part-time to full-time during a Houston City Council closed session meeting Monday, Sept. 22. 

Members unanimously approved promoting Sherry Underwood, transit clerk, from part-time to full-time employment effective Sept. 22. The part-time position was eliminated. 

Barbara Rodgers, city clerk, received a raise from step three to six, with a new salary of $63,953.44 effective Sept. 22. 

A decision from a Sept. 2 closed session meeting was amended to raise Police Chief Brad Evans’ salary from step three to nine, now totaling $88,673.91. The raise is effective Jan. 1, 2026.
