Two residents from Licking were injured Monday morning in an accident just east of Springfield on U.S. 60.

Tpr. R.G. Watkins said a westbound 2006 Ford Mustang driven by the 74-year-old driver crested a hill and observed traffic at a standstill. He overcorrected, traveled off the roadway to the left median, where he struck several road signs and a culvert before becoming airborne and coming to rest in a paved median cut-through.

The driver, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken with moderate injuries to Mercy Hospital in Springfield. A passenger, a 47-year-old male, also was sent to Mercy Hospital with minor injuries.

The vehicle had extensive damage in the 8:30 a.m. accident. The patrol did not release the names of those involved.
