A Houston woman was injured in a three-vehicle accident Monday night about 2.5 miles north of Cabool on U.S. 63, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

Cpl. Jacob Sellars said the crash occurred when a northbound 1998 Chevrolet Blazer operated by an 18-year-old West Plains man struck a cow in the roadway at about 8:20 p.m. A southbound 2023 Hyundai Elantra operated by a 20-year-old Houston woman then struck the same cow, which died. A third vehicle — a northbound 2004 Ford F-250 driven by a 39-year-old Houston man — swerved to avoid the Elantra, causing his boat to come off a trailer.

The driver of the Hyundai was taken with minor injuries by private vehicle to Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, Sellars said. The patrol released no names.

Sellars said the Blazer had moderate damage; the Elantra was totaled. The F-250 had no damage. Everyone was wearing a seat belt except the Ford driver.
