The annual Wedgewood Kathy Noirfalise Memorial Ladies Tournament was Saturday, Sept. 13, with 42 golfers participating.  Those competing endured a hot, humid day but enjoyed the camaraderie of a great day of golf, organizers said.

June Swanson and Sherri Jungferman, Mountain View, took first with a score of 70.   The tournament used the Payne system, starting with hole 18 and going back to hole 13. Other winners in the championship flight: Second, Jody Jarrett, Cabool, and Sandra Hawkins, Mountain Grove, with a 73 and Linda Benyo, Willow Springs, and Linda LeBaron, Mountain Grove, won third.  

A-Flight winners included first place, Sherry and Logynn Foster, Mountain Grove; second, Lezlie Harper and BJ Adams, West Plains; and third, Denna Tune and Amanda Evetts, Houston.

Hole prize winners included CTP (closest to the pin) holes 2/11: Sherri Unger, Mountain Grove, with 4’ 2”; closest to the line holes 4/13, BJ Adams; CTP holes 5/14, Brenda Priester, Washington, Mo., with 8 inches; CTP second shot holes 6/15, Jody Jarrett, with 11’ 8”; CTP holes 7/16, Sherri Unger with 6’ 3” and longest putt holes 9/18, Teresa Dowden, Mountain Grove with 29’ 3”.  Hole sponsors were Suzanne Arnold, Jody Jarrett, Brian Fleming and WWCC.

The Noirfalise family sponsored a $1,000 cash shootout after the completion of the tournament with 13 players qualifying.  Carolyn Bunch, Mountain Grove, won first place; Sandra Hawkins, second; and June Swanson, third.  They also sponsored on-course games including a pitching pool contest with Linda Hancock, Norwood, and Brenda Priester, tying.  Charlene White, Lake of the Ozarks, won the cornhole tossing contest. Organizers expressed thanks to the Noirfalise family for the on-course drinks, snacks and golf earrings.

Participants enjoyed a fried chicken lunch served on the vintage Wedgewood Country Club china and had the opportunity to participate in a silent auction.  The Randal ladies provided sides for lunch and the Wedgewood ladies for drinks and desserts.  Treat bags were provided by Jody Jarrett and Donna Jones, Wedgewood members.

Kim Noirfalise Tribolet spoke, thanking everyone for participating and happy to see the tournament participation increase. Kathy and Ted Noirfalise are Wedgewood charter members joining in 1968.

League play will continue through the end of October; then groups will play as weather and schedules permit.  A thanks went to member Rick Calhoun for providing cookouts for the Wednesday morning men’s league.
