The Texas County Commission reviewed several personnel decisions during meetings Oct. 15 and 16.

The hirings of Devon Johnson and Eddie Jordan as full-time jailers effective Oct. 15 was reviewed and acknowledged. Austin Connelly was also hired as a full-time jailer effective Oct. 1. 

A written notice of resignation effective Sept. 28 from Hartley Morse, full-time jailer, was reviewed and acknowledged.

OTHER MATTERS

  • Commissioners received correspondence from Dent County Clerk Angie Curley regarding Missouri Association of Counties (MAC) representation.
  • Members heard updates from the maintenance department on facilities, Veregy and bids for a roofing project at the 9-1-1 building. 
  • The Commission reviewed the county clerk’s certification of training from the Missouri Association of County Clerks and Election Authorities Association.
  • Mary Ellen Higashi discussed the upcoming Road and Bridge Question on the November ballot. 
  • Correspondence from the Missouri State Public Defender System was reviewed. 
  • The County Commission received an invitation from Trenty Courtney, South Central Council of Governments (SCOCOG) executive director, to an annual business meeting. 
  • Fred Wagner visited concerning work and notable improvements in Pierce Township. 
  • Members spoke with David Scantlin concerning Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) progress in several townships. 
  • Travis Maddox dropped off an invitation to an event for the Texas County Medical Reserve Corps. 
  • The Commission approved an order to refund taxes collected due to an error. 
  • A liquor license for the parent company of Miller’s Grill was approved for the Texas County Fair Board’s recent golf tournament fundraiser.
