The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:
- On Oct. 10, a 54-year-old man reported that a 16-foot flatbed trailer valued at $1,800 was missing from a Highway FF property in Bucyrus owned by an 83-year-old man.
The younger man works for the older man and told an investigating deputy that he noticed the trailer was gone on Oct. 9. He said a 43-year-old Success woman was a possible suspect.
According to a report, the woman has multiple active felony warrants. Investigation is ongoing.
- Mickey D. Brooks, 40, of Mineral Drive in Houston, was arrested Oct. 8 for having an active Texas County warrant for a felony charge of driving while revoked and a misdemeanor charge of no insurance.
Brooks was arrested at a Highway E residence in Houston and taken to jail. Cash-only bond in the case is set at $1,000.
- On Oct. 10, a deputy was dispatched regarding a report of two dead cows at an Arrow Road property.
The officer made contact with a 55-year-old woman there who said she had received a message from a man who had asked her if he could hunt coyotes on her land, and she had told him “no” because of previous issues.
She said she found the timing of the cows (valued at $4,000) being dead seemed suspicious. She said she suspected possible “gut shooting” of the animals with a .22 caliber firearm, but without an autopsy, there was no physical evidence for the officer to report.
