- On Oct. 23, a deputy responded to a Highway B residence near Houston regarding a report of poultry being killed by dogs.
A 67-year-old woman there told the officer that about five dogs had been entering her property, and she had lost more than 20 animals, including some chickens, guineas and ducks. She said she didn’t know who owned the dogs, and she didn’t want to harm them but would if necessary.
The woman said she thought the dogs were coming from the Sleepy Hollow Trailer Park. Investigation is ongoing.
- Diana M. Wilder, 42, of County Road 6620 at Licking, was arrested Oct. 21 for having an active Texas County warrant for a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor charges of receiving stolen property and no insurance.
A deputy made the arrest outside a courtroom in the Justice Center after Wilder was finished testifying on a probation violation case. She was taken to jail.
- On Oct. 23, the Texas County Special Response Team assisted the Licking Police Department in executing a search warrant at a Sackett Street residence in Licking.
As officers approached the home, a man was seen standing outside and taken into custody. Another man and woman who exited through a back door were also detained, and two juveniles were escorted out of the residence.
The search warrant was executed without incident, and the Licking Police Department was left in charge.
- On Oct. 8, the Texas County Special Response Team assisted the Houston Police Department in executing a search warrant at a Bryan Street residence in Houston.
A man and woman, both 65, were detained and the scene was turned over to Houston police.
- On Sept. 28, a 47-year-old Houston man reported that a Marlin lever action 30-30 rifle valued at $700 and a DeWalt 1/2 impact tool valued at $250 had been stolen from the back of his UTV.
- At about 2:20 a.m. Sept. 9, a deputy was dispatched regarding a house fire on Highway W at Summersville.
Summersville Fire Department personnel on scene advised the officer that the fire was believed to involve arson, and a request was made to dispatch a fire marshal.
After a fire marshal arrived and conducted a walkthrough of the structure’s remains, he determined that arson was the cause, and the blaze had likely originated in the front corner of the house.
There are no suspects.
