The Texas County Library Foundation discussed plans Wednesday to launch improvements to the Licking branch of the Texas County Library, including a breakroom and new bathrooms.

Foundation members will attend a 6 p.m. Nov. 11 meeting of the Licking City Council to discuss a Community Development Block Grant application totaling $500,000. There is no match component.

After obtaining a resolution from the council, the foundation within 45 days will advertise requests for proposals from architectural firms. Letters of support will be sought for the grant.

The application must be submitted to the state by April 26, 2026.

It was the first meeting for the foundation since the new library in Houston opened Oct. 20. Members reported a positive open house and dedication. Louise Beasley related information about the first few days of operation.
