A former Houston government administrator will become the city administrator for the City of Mount Vernon on Nov. 17.
Robert Harrington was among 18 candidates who applied for the job. Interviews occurred over two special meetings.
Leaders in the Lawrence County community said Harrington has a strong background in economic development and has worked in community and economic development for 18 years.
Harrington, who is a Fort Scott, Kansas, resident, was the economic development director for the City of Houston from October 2018 until May 2021.
After leaving Houston, he became the economic development director of Bourbon County REDI and operated a business he started, Rural Growth Strategies.
