The Houston High School Scholar Bowl team finished third Saturday in the 22-team Glendale Show Me 4 Tournament to open its 2025-26 season.
Keaton Hinkle finished fourth individually for HHS, which defeated Logan-Rogersville 300-115 in the third-place game. The team is coached by Jason Pounds and assisted by Destiny Wallander.
Houston went undefeated in pool play with wins over Nevada (255-170), Pierce City A (270-80), Hillcrest A (196-195 overtime) and Lockwood B (335-0).
In the championship pool, Houston beat Springfield Central B (230-120) before losing to New Heights (375-100). In round 8, Houston lost to eventual tournament winner Springfield Central A (345-170) and played for third place.
“Coach Wallander coached the team most of the day, as I was moderating for the tournament all day,” Pounds said. “She did a great job with them on a very long day for our first tournament of the year. I’m proud of her and of the team. It’s a great way to start the season.”
