A Houston eighth grader was announced Friday as the National Academic Quiz Tournaments’ Middle School Player of the Week.
Kyell Robertson received the honor for his performance at the 2025 Clever Fall Middle School Invitational Tournament.
“Kyell has a really solid foundation of knowledge in a variety of topics and is aggressive on the buzzer,” Houston Scholar Bowl coach Jason Pounds said. “The first step to scoring points in Scholar Bowl is to have the courage to buzz in.”
National Academic Quiz Tournaments, LLC, organizes the premier middle school, high school and college national quiz bowl championships in North America. It provides a standardized, nationwide competition format that is open to all midd schools, high schools, home school collectives and colleges.
