Raymond Leroy Garrett went to his Heavenly Home at the age of 81 on Oct. 22, 2025, at his home in Licking, Missouri, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Aug. 25, 1944, in Success, Missouri, to William Elby Garrett and Mary Jane (McCoy) Garrett. Raymond and Linda (Harris) Garrett were united in marriage Sept. 10, 1966, and they recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. From this union, three children were born.

Raymond started R.L. Construction in the mid 1970s and was a well-respected contractor known for building solid homes in Texas and surrounding counties. He was known for his hard work and love of teaching his trade to the next generation. He built his own home and helped in the homes of all his children. Raymond retired in 2010 with constant calls of people wanting him to continue his craft. He gave a whole new meaning of being square and the bubble needed to be on center. During this time he also had a beef farm, was a hunter, gatherer and was known to his family as “The Great White Hunter,” teaching his kids and grandkids to live off the land.

Raymond was baptized in 1994 and was strong in his faith. Even in his last hour he was professing his faith to his family.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Lynn Garrett, Leon (Skeet) Garrett and William (Tom) Garrett. He is survived by his wife, Linda Garrett. His children, Kelly Bean (Benny), Kim Blankenship (Brad) and Kevin Garrett (Tina). His grandchildren, Amanda Griswell (Jonathan), Drew Bean (Camber), Sean Blankenship (Donna), April Wheeler (Levi), Ashley Quinton, Quin Blankenship (Keaghan), April Davis (Dillon), Breanna Garrett, Levi Garrett and Kaylee Garrett. His great-grandchildren, Brayden and Garrett Griswell, Mia Blankenship, Paisley Overby, Holden Quinton, Olivia and Emelia Bean. His brothers and sisters, Lorenzo (Lonnie) Garrett, Ronny Garrett, Fairel Garrett, Carmileta MaCallister, Loreta (Reta) Hall and Wilma Wade. And many nieces and nephews.

Raymond was a wonderful husband, father, son, grandfather and great-grandfather, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, 2025, at Fox Funeral Home in Licking, with visitation starting at 12:30 p.m. Rick Mosher will officiate. Pallbearers are Sean Blankenship, Drew Bean, Matt Maloney, Dallas Chipps, Josh Rodgers, Marcus Weber, and honorary Quin Blankenship and Levi Garrett. Burial will take place at Palace Cemetery under the direction of Fox Funeral Home.

In lieu of floral arrangements, donations may be made to the Licking Christian Church Building Fund in his honor.
