A long-standing transportation system in Texas County will end its service at the end of December.
Texas County Transportation has operated for more than 50 years, and provided help to residents of the Licking area who need transportation to health care employees and other destinations. It began in 1973. Funding came from the Missouri Department of Transportation and the Federal Transit Administration.

Officials said finding a replacement for a retiring driver was difficult. Additionally, MoDOT wanted Licking Bridge Builders, a senior center, to hire an accountant instead of a treasurer, which would have accelerated costs. The board opted to end the program.

It really feels like a significant loss for the community.
