The Cabool Senior Center board of directors met during the recent government shutdown and voted to purchase $50 gift cards to give to seniors 60 years and over who also receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.
About half the Town & Country/Country Mart cards have already been distributed. However, the board of directors are offering another day to take advantage of the opportunity. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, affected can go to the center and receive a $50 gift card to assist with food expenses resulting from the shutdown.
Individuals 60 years and older interested in participating in the program have to come to the Cabool Senior Center in person at 910 Cherry St. Those individuals will need to show proof of ID (verifying age) and their SNAP card (proof of program participation). This event is only for those community members who have not already received a gift card from the center.
