A Christmas tree lighting event is planned for downtown Houston next month.

A Christmas tree lighting ceremony is planned Friday, Dec. 6, in downtown Houston at the Lone Star Plaza at Grand Avenue and Pine Street.

The Houston Lions Club will sponsor the event following the Houston Christmas Parade.

Mayor Sam Kelley will light a tree at the Lone Star Plaza.
