Members of the Texas County Commission handled several matters, including a resignation, during meetings Oct. 28 and 29.

ITEMS FROM THE MEETINGS

  • Scott Rice, BPJ Insurance, met with the commission to discuss county employee health benefits for 2026. 
  • The Texas County Salary Commission meeting was held to discuss elected officials compensation. 
  • An $8,000 payment to Christos House was approved for victims of domestic violence. 
  • The sheriff reported that one of his department’s vehicles was involved in a deer accident. 
  • Commissioners reviewed and acknowledged the verbal notice of resignation of Trenton Lathrom as a full-time jailer effective Oct. 24. 
  • The commission heard updates from the maintenance department on facilities and bids for a roofing project. 
  • Members reviewed correspondence from the Missouri Department of Social Services providing the county with the amount of the 2026 IV-D budget allocation for the prosecuting attorney’s office.
  • A payment to BuildTee Construction for the Public Water Supply District #1 well project was reviewed. 
  • Tammy Cantrell, collector, and Taylor Clinton, assessor, met with the commission on implementing the Senior Homestead Tax Credit. The conversation included a phone call with Janet Crow, Howell County collector.
  • David Scantlin discussed Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) projects for townships. 
  • Rocky Dailing reported tree limbs protruding in the roadway in Upton Township.
