The Texas County Sheriff's Department was called to handle a variety of investigations.
  • A deputy responded Nov. 14 to a report of an abandoned vehicle at location near the 8000 block of Route 17.

Upon arrival, the officer observed a black Kia Amanti parked on a curve on the southbound lane, with its left rear tire and bumper about a foot over the fog line into the roadway. The car was registered to an Eminence man and an attempt to contact him failed.

The car was towed to a lot in Houston.

  • A 42-year-old man reported Nov. 12 that a large amount of trash had been dumped on his Morton Road property at Houston.

Investigation revealed that a woman had arranged for her 18-year-old grandson to dump the trash there.

Lilly R. Glenn, 57, of Morton Road in Houston, was issued a citation for first-degree littering.

  • On Nov. 14, a 67-year-old Huggins man reported that a bush valued at $500 had been moved from in front of his house on Huggins Road.

The man named a neighbor woman he recently had disputes with as a possible suspect. An investigating deputy contacted the woman, and she said she had no knowledge of the situation.
