Houston High School senior Chesney Warner is one of four students in the state to be named to the Missouri 4-H Shooting Sports Team.

Warner is the ninth member of the Texas County Shotgun Shooting Sports Team to receive the honor and second female.

Warner will represent Missouri at the 4-H Nationals in Grand Island, Nebraska, in June and will conclude her season at the Grand American, a world-class competition in Sparta, Illinois, at the end of July.

“Even though my visual impairment makes it harder to track moving targets and adjust to changes in lighting, I refused to let it stop me,” said Warner, who was born with Optic Nerve Hypoplasia, a condition where the optic nerve is underdeveloped. “I’ve learned to adapt, relying on consistency, muscle memory and focus.

“Making the Missouri 4-H State Shotgun Team is proof that perseverance – not perfection – leads to success.”
