A Texas County man is charged with a Nov. 6 assault that allegedly occurred with a drill and its bit.

Lonnie Royal, born in 1981, is charged with domestic assault, a class D felony.

The Texas County Sheriff’s Department started an investigation at a Raymondville residence following a report. A deputy arrived to find a victim who said he had been hit in the face with a Hart white and blue drill with a bit attached.

The victim had blood between his chin and lower lip and a small puncture wound consistent with a bit, according to a report. Royal told the officer “he had a right to defend himself.”

He was arrested and taken to the Texas County Jail.
