OBITUARY: Norma Ruth Pearcy

Norma Ruth Pearcy was born May 1, 1937 on the family farm at Roubidoux, Missouri to Johnie and Maggie (Stilley) Pearcy. She passed away Nov. 18, 2025 in Houston, Missouri at the age of 88. 

Norma graduated from Houston High School in 1955. She worked nine years at the International Shoe Company in Houston and 25 years as manager over three PXs at Fort Leonard Wood. After retirement, she worked 10 years at the Houston Walmart Pharmacy. She lived her whole life in the Roubidoux and Houston area.

Norma was a lifelong member and trustee of the Peace Chapel Assembly of God Church near Plato. She was nine years old when the church was founded and served with many treasurers in counting money and writing checks. She currently was helping Kay Jordan with church collections. She was the much loved and hugged volunteer in Dara Jackson’s early childhood Sunday School Class. Present students, Lainey and Auggie, visited her at Houston House.

Norma was true to her religion and now she has just changed her address to 224 Heaven.

Norma kept busy when not working by completing cross stitched blocks for quilts. She began farming after retiring from Fort Leonard Wood. She loved her white Charolais cattle and built her herd to 49 before having to sell them because of health concerns. Norma’s constant loving companion in the last few years was her dog, “Liv,” though he would come to her when she called him other names, especially when he had chewed up a box of Kleenex or a roll of toilet paper.

Norma loved to travel with any of the nieces and nephews to their homes for holidays or to her favorite eating place, Sonic. She was sustained during the last few months with her requested peach slush.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Ray Pearcy; sisters, Maxine Brown, Mildred James and Joyce Campbell; sister-in-law, Norma Helen Pearcy; brother-in-law, Gerald James; niece, Debbie Pearcy; and nephews, Mike Roderick and Dean Campbell.

Surviving are her sister, Sue Gaddis; nieces, Elaine Campbell, Eileen Fronterhouse, Sheila Walker, Sharon Tyger, Carol McNew, Cathy Gilbert, Jeannie Pearcy, Loleta Gaddis, Nephews, Larry Brown, Phil Roderick, Danny Roderick, Carl Pearcy and Calvin Pearcy; and a host of great nieces, nephews and family and church friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Norma’s memory may be made to Hickory Ridge Cemetery.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025, at the Life Church in Houston with Pastor Phillip Nava, Pastor Allen Tyger and Miranda Ascone officiating. Interment is in the Hickory Ridge Cemetery. Services are under the care of Bradford Funeral Home and online condolences may be left at www.bradfordfuneralhome.net.
