Ozark Action announced the recent government shutdown is still affecting its operation.

An office is closed in Houston.

“Our FY2026 Community Services Block Grant— which funds staffing and operations for these offices — was originally scheduled to begin Oct. 1. Now that federal employees are back in their offices, we are optimistic that funding under the continuing resolution will be released soon,” it said in a release.

“The same situation applies to our FY2026 LIHEAP funding, which supports heating assistance. We are currently operating with limited carryover funds, allowing a small team to continue providing essential services. However, the release of new FY2026 funds is critical for us to continue serving individuals and families into the new year.”
