Texas County’s deer harvest was the fourth highest in Missouri following two days of hunting, the Missouri Department of Conservation said.
Hunters in the county killed 1,177 deer. The breakdown shows: antlered bucks (842), button bucks (76) and does (259).
The kill is down from last year’s opening weekend, which saw 1,306 checked in.
Top counties in the state are: Franklin (1,761), Howell (1,270), Wayne (1,234), Texas (1,177) and Callaway (1,100).
