Troop G of the Missouri State Highway Patrol recorded a fatality on Saturday in the nine-county area.
Tpr. C.K. Johnson said the tragedy occurred on Route 5 about 3.5 miles south of Mansfield.
A northbound Kawasaki Mule driven by an 84-year-old Ava man was making a left turn when a northbound 2005 Chrysler 300 operated by a 66-year-old Mansfield woman went to pass another vehicle and struck the Kawasaki in the rear.
The driver of the utility vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene by Wright County Coroner Ben Hurtt. Next of kin has been notified.
The driver and passenger in the car were transported to hospitals in Springfield.
It was Troop G’s 30th fatality this year compared to 33 at the same time in 2024. Several troopers assisted Johnson in the investigation.
