Troop G of the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a fatality Thursday in its nine-county area.
Tpr. Grant Plummer said a southbound 2021 Kia Forte driven by a 50-year-old Mansfield woman crossed the center line of Route 5 five miles north of Ava and struck a northbound 2018 Jeep Compass operated by 52-year-old Ava woman.
The Mansfield woman was pronounced deceased by the Douglas County coroner.
It was Troop G’s 31st fatality for 2025 compared to 22 at the same time a year ago.
