Texas County youth hunters killed 288 deer during the two-day season that ended Sunday.

That was ninth in Missouri, the Missouri Department of Conservation said. The breakdown was: Antlered (168), button bucks (22) and does (98).

Top counties in Missouri were: Franklin (390), Howell (388), Pike (366), Gasconade (348), Callaway (332), Lincoln (322), Douglas (321), Osage (312) and Texas (288).

The second youth season runs from Nov. 28-30.
