Carl Honeycutt, an active member of the business community and a civic leader who worked to improve Houston, passed away Wednesday.
He was 92.

Mr. Honeycutt purchased Brown Motor Co. in September 1965 and the renamed business was known as “Carl Honeycutt Chevrolet and Oldsmobile Co.” In 1970, the dealership occupied new quarters at East Route 17 and U.S. 63. The building covered about 11,800 square feet. The site was previously home to Kraft Foods.
Mr. Honeycutt entered the car business as an associate of his father, S.A. Honeycutt, who was the longtime Chevrolet dealer at Mansfield.
Mr. Honeycutt was active throughout his life by serving on several community and City of Houston panels that worked to improve the community. In 1977, he developed property south of the dealership that included a franchised restaurant. Two years later, a car wash was opened.
Among survivors are his wife and two children.
A visitation from Mr. Honeycutt is 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 22, at Houston First Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Houston School District Automotive Technologies Program or Houston First Baptist Church.
Interment will be at Pine Lawn Cemetery. Services are under the care of Bradford Funeral Home and online condolences may be left at www.bradfordfuneralhome.net.
