The Texas County Sheriff's Department was called to handle a variety of investigations.
  • On Oct. 16, a deputy received information about lots of traffic coming and going from a house on Horseshoe Drive in Houston at all hours of the night, indicating possible sale of narcotics.

The officer went to the location and removed garbage from the end of the driveway next to the road. The garbage was searched and several items related to methamphetamine use were found.

A search warrant was obtained, and when officers searched the house on Oct. 22 more drug-related items were located in the trash.

On Oct. 23, the 61-year-old woman who lives at the residence was questioned and she said she had recently thrown away her narcotic paraphernalia due to discontinuing use of meth.

Investigation is ongoing.
