A felon from Texas County faces two felony counts of possessing firearms following a domestic assault investigation.
Christopher L. Hawkins, born in 1979, is charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, a felony, and fourth-degree assault, a misdemeanor, following an incident Christmas Eve evening.
A deputy said he arrived to find broken dishes on the kitchen floor. A witness alleged that Hawkins had gotten into a verbal argument and flipped the kitchen table over, breaking dishes. She reported that he had cut his hand.
Authorities recovered two weapons outside the house, and the victim said she earlier heard gunshots, too.
Hawkins confirmed to officers that a verbal argument had occurred, and said he had cut his finger on a knife when he tried to take away from the witness.
A criminal records check shows Hawkins has multiple felony convictions, according to a report. The most recent was in July 2024.
Bond was set at $5,000 cash only.
