The Houston board of education acknowledged four retirements, made several coaching hires and approved a land purchase during the closed session of Tuesday’s monthly meeting. 

Sheila Campbell (early childhood special education), Anita Ellis (early childhood special education), Shelly Mantel (occupational therapist) and Renee Ice (early childhood special education) are retiring at the end of 2025-26 school year. Ellis, Mantell and Ice teach at the Exceptional Child Education Cooperative. 

Two employees, Aaron Gebbie (paraprofessional) and Brett Rawlings (middle school head softball coach), submitted resignations for the current school year. Gebbie’s last day was Nov. 11.

Four men were hired for coaching positions within the district for the current school year: Bill Nenadich (high school assistant softball coach), Garyn Hall (high school assistant baseball coach), Dustin Altom (middle school assistant baseball coach) and Jon Koch (volunteer high school softball coach). 

The board also approved spending $15,000 from the Building Trades funds to purchase a lot at 625 W. Chestnut Street.
