A Texas County man was found guilty last week of shooting a relative in November 2024.

Wayne Beck, 60, of Mountain Grove, was found guilty Dec. 9 on charges of unlawful use of a weapon, a class A felony, and a misdemeanor of fourth-degree domestic assault by a Texas County jury.

He will be sentenced Feb. 19.

Texas County deputies were dispatched to Texas County Memorial Hospital for a report of a patient with a gunshot wound.

Deputies contacted a 19-year-old male victim, who reported being in an argument with a family member, Beck. The victim stated Beck struck him with a pistol, and then fired a shot from the weapon that entered through his upper arm into his torso.

A witness provided a similar account of the incident. The victim was later transferred to another medical facility with serious injuries.

After speaking with the victim, deputies went to a residence on Gravel Point Road in the Dunn area where the incident occurred. Deputies contacted Beck and questioned him about the incident.

Beck admitted to striking the victim with the gun and firing a shot toward the victim. Beck stated he did not intend to hit the victim, only to scare him. Beck was arrested and transported to the Texas County Jail.
