HHS senior D.J. Riley was named the Tigers' 2025 MVP after throwing for more than 1,000 yards and rushing for 19 touchdowns.

Senior D.J. Riley was named the Houston football team’s 2025 most valuable player during Sunday’s fall sports banquet.

Riley, a dual threat quarterback, threw for 1,004 yards and 9 touchdowns and ran for 839 yards and 19 scores – the most in the program’s last 20 years. Riley was also named the team’s offensive player of the year.

Venn, a freshman, was the team’s rookie of the year and defensive player of the year. He had team highs of 89 tackles and five interceptions from his strong safety position.

Junior Oliver Greiner was the team’s lineman of the year and fellow junior Dillon Shelton was special teams player of the year.

Kane Crawford and Jasper McCoy shared most improved honors.

HHS football coach Eric Sloan also handed out varsity letters as well as all-conference, all-district, all-region and academic all-state awards during the banquet that included the volleyball, cross country and cheer teams.
